University Sports Medicine staff provides health care to athletes at all levels of competition. From professional and collegiate players to weekend warriors and sports newcomers, we offer a complete range of services on and off the field.

Athletic trainer services
Certified athletic trainers are available to provide education and evaluation and to act as a liaison between young athletes, parents, coaches, and physicians.
Sports medicine services
UMMC Sports Medicine is a group of board-certified physicians, specialized in their fields and serving as faculty at the state's only academic medical center. The physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other members of the sports medicine team provide comprehensive medical care for athletes at all levels.
Pre-participation physicals
We offer physicals for student athletes in May.

Practice attendance and follow-up visits
We visit participating schools to follow up on injuries and evaluate new concerns. Our staff also attends daily sports practices for those schools to help ensure the health and safety of student athletes.
Athletic event coverage
UMMC Sports Medicine provides medical services for school athletic programs and community sporting events, from games and practices to tournaments. Our physicians treat all degrees of injury at the state's only Level 1 trauma center.
